Tree Cabling & Bracing
Stabilize weak unions and heavy limbs with ANSI A300-compliant cabling and bracing systems to reduce risk and extend tree life.
Professional Cabling & Bracing
Some mature trees develop weak crotches, co-dominant stems, or end-heavy limbs that increase failure risk—especially in storms. Properly designed cabling and bracing can redistribute loads, reduce movement, and help preserve valuable trees while protecting people and property.
- Static (steel) or dynamic (synthetic) systems, as appropriate
- Through-bolts, lag hardware, and bracing rods for weak unions
- Placement based on load paths, height ratios, and spread
- Installed to ANSI A300 Part 3 guidelines
- Follow-up inspections and maintenance schedules
When Cabling Makes Sense
- Co-dominant stems with included bark
- Large, end-heavy lateral limbs over targets
- Historic or high-value trees you want to preserve
- Cracks or weak unions identified during assessment
- Storm prep for trees with asymmetric canopies
1) Assessment & Quote
We evaluate structure, targets, and species characteristics; document defects; and recommend an appropriate support system and any pruning.
2) Design & Placement
Select static or dynamic cabling, determine anchor points and hardware, and place components for optimal load sharing and minimal wounding.
3) Install & Inspect
Install cables and/or rods, set correct tensions, perform balancing/weight reduction prunes as needed, and schedule follow-up inspections.
Annual Inspection & Re-Tension
We recommend yearly inspections—check hardware, adjust tension, monitor growth around anchors, and update pruning as the canopy changes.
